Benue State government has stepped up its drive to overhaul the education sector by enforcing a complete prohibition on illegal fees in both public and private schools, while also mandating the use of electronic dossiers (e-Dossiers) for every student in the state.
During the board’s first official meeting with secondary school heads in Makurdi, the Executive Secretary of the Benue Education Quality Assurance and Examination Board (BEQAEB), Dr. Terna Francis, made the announcement.
He cautioned that the era of unauthorised financial demands by school leaders is over, noting that the newly introduced digital tracking system aims to promote greater openness and ensure schools are held accountable in their daily operations.
“The e-Dossier will track each learner’s academic record from Basic 1 to SS3 and allow the board to monitor performance, student migration, and examination registration.
“It will also eliminate excuses, speed up result processing, and restore credibility to our education system,” he said.
Francis added that all exam-related payments have been fully digitised and must now be completed either online or directly through banks.
He emphasised that cash payments and handwritten receipts are no longer acceptable, warning that any personnel caught collecting cash will be sanctioned.
