My people, make I tell you one strong story wey go gree your mind. E be like say life no dey easy for some people, especially when wahala come wey fit dem like blind person. Meet Tolulope Aluko, dis man way blind since e be five years old, but e no let dat one stop am o!
Born for Ilesha, Osun State, na one small pikin wey one of im uncle baby carry im finger enter im eye. Before anybody sabi wetin dey happen, wahala don land, and the young man eye don turn blind. You fit imagine the shock wey dey sweep through im family, abi?
But despite the intense challenge, Tolulope carry im destiny for hand well-well. Instead of throwing am inside bush like dem wan do some people when dem see dem as burden, he find help from Pacelli School for the Blind for Lagos. Na there, he learn how to read and write, learn how to live for dis world wey no too get space for people like am.
As e dey grow, e make sure say education no go be luxury for him. From Pacelli School, he enter secondary school, then go Polytechnic Ibadan where e carry National Diploma and Higher National Diploma, before e run go University of Ibadan go collect Master’s degrees wey dey rain, one for 2009 and second one for 2017!
Omo! You fit ask yourself, wetin help dis man endure? Na faith and determination. E talk say no matter wetin dey happen, no give up, because God dey always carry person yan-yan go. When life throw punch, you throw back with even stronger punch!
Though e no fit see light, but e carry big dream. Tolulope currently hold down job for Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria since 2005, and he dey run programs wey dey educate people about the life of disabled folk. E dey encourage families say no matter wetin, ‘there is life and there is hope,’ and dis serious jaga-jaga wey fit topple anybody for this society no fit hold am down.
The man don even apply for PhD for Media Studies at University of Kent for UK! Yes o! But e dey battle financial wahala wey no gree make dem release am go. E don defer di admission till June, dey pray kneeling say sponsors go show face! Na so e display the spirit of never-say-die.
Tolulope no only dey shout for himself, e dey carry others along too. E get sharp brain and na im be evidence say blindness no be a barrier to greatness. E don handle challenges wey fit fit devil mask! Di man talk say the discrimination no be small, and na wetin make am leave some jobs, but still, e dey push to become lecturer.
But the wahala wey dey come dey no be joke. Anytime your life dey serve you slap, remember say dem dey chop the slap with yam and palm oil for corner. Dis man dey use him story turn motivational speaker and empower people, making sure say e no go carry disability like strap of shoe wey dey slow am down.
You fit ask why e no give up during di times wey everything dey collapse? E get one proverb wey e hold tight: ‘The chicken dey eat corn, dey drink water, but e dey complain say e no get teeth. But wetin go happen if e get teeth?’ That one go ginger anybody to keep fighting no matter the odds.
So guys, make we draw inspiration from Tolulope Aluko. Dis man no be ordinary person; na warrior! No matter wetin we dey face, remember say we fit still shine. As e dey fight for him dream, make we dey fight for our own too. No give up, life dey smile for those wey gree bolt!
