Reports have surfaced claiming that renowned Nigerian evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, has died at the age of 80.
The news first broke through social media posts from Christian leaders, prompting widespread mourning online.
While several outlets, including PM News, reported his death, no official confirmation has yet been issued by his family or ministry.
Reports emerged on October 13, 2025, that Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, the renowned Nigerian evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, has passed away.
According to a “breaking” update by PM News, Rev. Ukpai died at age 80.
Earlier in the day, confusion had surrounded the reports, with uncertainty about whether the rumors were true or not.
The initial wave of speculation began after a post by Prophet Joel Ogebe on social media, which stated:
“A giant has gone to be with the Lord. My father, my father, the chariot of Israel. Heaven rejoices. Uyo.”
Although the post did not mention names, social media users quickly linked it to Rev. Ukpai, since he was widely associated with Uyo, the headquarters of his ministry.
Another Christian news platform also reported his passing, captioned:
“A GENERAL TAKES A BOW! EVANGELIST UMA UKPAI HAS GONE TO BE WITH THE LORD. REST IN POWER SIR.”
As of now, no official confirmation has been issued by the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, family members, or credible news outlets.
