BREAKING: Soludo opens up on ‘meeting’ Tinubu over Peter Obi

BREAKING: Soludo opens up on ‘meeting’ Tinubu over Peter Obi

Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State on Monday denied meeting with a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and president-elect, Bola Tinubu over one of his predecessors, Peter Obi.

Reports had emerged over the weekend that Governor Soludo held a meeting with Tinubu at the Imo State Government House, Owerri, on how to stop Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate for the February 25 election, from pursuing the process to ‘reclaim the mandate’ through the court process.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Obi and the Labour Party had approached the court to challenge the emergence of the former Lagos State governor as the next president of Nigeria.

Recall that Tinubu was declared the winner of the 2023 presidential election last Wednesday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after polling 8,794,726.  Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) garnered 6.96 million votes to come second, while Obi scored 6.1 million votes to come third, according to the official announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

A report doing the rounds claimed that Tinubu and Soludo held a secret meeting at the Government House in Owerri, Imo State. Imo is an APC-controlled state.

But reacting, Governor Soludo, through his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, said the allegations were false and ridiculous.

“The general public is advised to disregard the allegations. Ndi Anambra should also disregard all the insinuations and come out to vote massively for APGA this Saturday for the State House of Assembly election in order to sustain the developmental strides of the present administration of Governor Soludo.

“If certain people could sit somewhere and cook up a story of this nature, it becomes highly reprehensible and certainly deserves to be condemned by every right-thinking person,” the statement reads.
