…Leaders Agree on Double-Shift Work to Fast-Track Completion of Strategic Corridor
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State and the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi,, have agreed on urgent measures to accelerate the completion of the Abuja–Jere–Kaduna segment of the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Expressway — one of Nigeria’s most critical transport corridors.
During a high-level review meeting in Abuja on Friday, both leaders assessed the project’s progress, which is advancing with pioneering durable concrete technology to ensure lasting quality and sustainability.
Governor Sani emphasized that the highway transcends regional significance, describing it as “a national endeavour that embodies President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.” He noted that the project represents a shared commitment to strengthening infrastructure, boosting economic growth, and enhancing national integration.
Senator Umahi reaffirmed that the expressway remains a top priority under the current administration, revealing that contractors have been directed to operate double shifts to speed up completion without compromising standards.
Both leaders underscored the urgency of finalising the Abuja–Jere–Kaduna stretch to ease chronic traffic congestion and improve mobility for millions of commuters and traders who rely on the route daily.
Governor Sani reiterated Kaduna State’s full commitment to working with the Federal Ministry of Works toward timely delivery.
“Together, we are determined that this expressway will not only symbolize renewed hope and unity but also stand as a beacon of sustainable development for generations to come,” he stated.
