President Bola Tinubu has sworn in Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The brief ceremony took place on Thursday at the State House in Abuja, with top government officials in attendance.
Amupitan’s inauguration by President Tinubu comes one week after the Senate and replaces Mahmood Yakubu, whose tenure has come to an end.
During the ceremony, President Tinubu urged Professor Amupitan to safeguard the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral system and enhance the institutional strength of the commission.
