Southern Kaduna erupted in excitement on Thursday as Governor Uba Sani broke a 15-year jinx of neglect by flagging off the reconstruction of the Jaba–Kwoi Township Road and inspecting the ongoing 22.8km Madauchi–Madakiya–Kafanchan Road project. Residents hailed the move as a historic turning point for the region long starved of major government interventions.

The Jaba–Kwoi Township Road, a critical artery linking Southern Kaduna communities to the Abuja highway, had been left in disrepair for over a decade. At the groundbreaking ceremony, Governor Uba Sani described the reconstruction as more than a road project, but a lifeline for the people.

“This road connects farmers to markets, children to schools, and patients to hospitals. It is about reducing poverty, expanding incomes, and strengthening the fabric of our communities. With this intervention, we are renewing hope, fostering unity, and bringing development to a region that has long deserved it,” the Governor declared.

Community members, visibly elated, said the project had restored their faith in government. Elder Monday Jatau, a local leader, remarked: “For more than a decade, we cried out for government attention. Today, Uba Sani has shown us that we matter. This is not just a road; it is dignity restored.”

After the ceremony, Governor Uba Sani inspected the 22.8km road linking Zango Kataf and Jema’a Local Government Areas. Expressing satisfaction with the pace of work, he urged contractors to deliver quality and ensure timely completion, noting the project’s importance to surrounding communities.

For local farmers, the intervention promises immediate economic relief. Hauwa Simon, a cassava farmer, said: “Before, bad roads swallowed our profits. Now, we see hope. This project will change how we live and work.”

Analysts argue that the twin road projects will unlock new economic corridors, lower transport costs, create jobs, and strengthen social cohesion in Southern Kaduna. The interventions, they say, reflect Governor Uba Sani’s guiding principle of fairness, equity, and justice — ensuring that no community is left behind in the development drive.

With these bold moves, the Governor has inscribed his name in Southern Kaduna’s history, not only as a builder of roads but as a restorer of dignity, trust, and prosperity.
