Clark has now been unavailable for 23 of the Fever’s 2025 regular season games, plus the Commissioner’s Cup final, bringing her total absences to 24 this year.

Her return hit another snag earlier this month when she picked up a bone bruise in her left ankle during a workout in Phoenix on August 7.

Fever insiders insisted the ankle setback did not push back her recovery schedule, though her absence continues to stretch on with no firm timetable.

Head coach Stephanie White has repeatedly stressed the same stance: “Until she can get into practice and until you guys see her in practice, we’re really status quo.”

The Fever have made it clear that Clark must complete a proper ramp-up period in training before she is cleared to play again.

Despite her limited appearances, Clark has averaged 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, 5 rebounds, and 1.6 steals across 13 games this season.

Her shooting efficiency remains a work in progress at 36.7 percent from the field and 27.9 percent from deep.

The Fever have been holding steady in the playoff race, improving to 19-16 after edging the Connecticut Sun in overtime on Thursday.

Still, Clark’s extended absence has left the team relying heavily on its veterans and younger role players to carry the load.

The roster has also been thinned by injuries elsewhere, with Sophie Cunningham sidelined for the season due to a knee issue.

Aari McDonald and Sydney Colson are also out long-term, leaving the Fever short-handed heading into the final stretch of the year.

Popular analyst Rachel DeMita voiced the doubts many fans are quietly harboring, saying bluntly: “I don’t think Caitlin Clark is coming back.”

Her comment reflects the growing unease among Fever supporters, who are frustrated by the lack of clarity over when or if Clark will return.

Even so, coach White holds out hope, insisting the organization’s focus is on keeping Clark healthy for the long run rather than rushing her return.
