In her gesture to make people around smile during the Christmas season, the Immediate Past Executive Vice Chairman of Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area, Hon. Mojisola Ayinke Badmos, has empowered the People Living With Disabilities (PLWD) and Vulnerables within Igando-Ikotun LCDA and across Alimosho Federal Constituency on Boxing Day.
The empowerment cut across; blind cluster, dwarfs cluster, Abino cluster, Physically Challenged, the Care Givers, The Deaf Cluster, Visual cluster with Wheelchairs to disability children, food, Folding Blind Walking Stick were distributed to beneficiaries.
Badmos, a steadfast member of the All Progressives Congress, APC who organized the heartwarming event at DE-HUB Hotel, ijegun road themed “Helping the Needy in Trying Times.” said the programme was aimed at making the less privileged happy during the festive period.
According to Badmos “this initiative aimed at bringing joy and support to less privileged children, displaced persons, and individuals with disabilities, and spreading the festive spirit of Christmas through acts of kindness and generosity.”
“As we mark this season, I reaffirm my commitment to promoting inclusion, equal opportunities, and dignity for all persons, regardless of ability. Together, we can continue to work toward a society where every individual is valued, empowered, and given the opportunity to thrive.”
Badmos said “on the occasion of Christmas Boxing Day, I extend my warm greetings and best wishes to Persons with Disabilities across Nigeria and to all citizens of our great nation who observe this season. This period serves as an opportunity to reflect on shared human values such as compassion, kindness, generosity, peace, and unity—values that strengthen our social fabric and promote coexistence in our diverse society.”
“I encourage the disability community, families, caregivers, and all stakeholders to use this season to show care for one another, stand together in solidarity, and support the most vulnerable among us. It is a time to reinforce empathy, mutual respect, and understanding within our communities.”
The event featured various engaging activities, including lively entertainment, motivational speeches, distribution of food, gifts, essential supplies to attendees and empowerment.
The atmosphere was filled with excitement as children participated in interactive games, shared laughter, and received special treats.
The presence of a cheerful Santa Claus further heightened the festive mood, bringing smiles to the children’s faces.
