Civil Society Leader Isaiah Ijele Urges Gov to Pay Salaries Before Christmas

Civil Society leader and public affairs analyst, Isaiah Davies Ijele, has urged the Kogi State government to pay workers’ salaries before Christmas, citing fairness, respect, and workers’ welfare.

“Christmas is tomorrow, a time of joy, celebration, and togetherness for Christians worldwide, the expectation of receiving salaries becomes paramount,” Ijele said in a statement. “For workers in Kogi State, timely salary payment is crucial, especially considering festive season financial demands.”

Ijele emphasized that delaying payments would create undue stress, hindering workers’ ability to celebrate with loved ones. “Families come together, exchange gifts, and enjoy special meals. These activities require financial resources,” he noted.

He stressed fairness and respect for all religions, citing the principle of equal treatment. “If it were Sallah, the expectation would be the same: timely payment to enable workers to celebrate,” Ijele said. “This principle underscores ensuring all workers, regardless of religious beliefs, are treated with dignity and respect.”

Ijele concluded, “Timely payment isn’t just financial convenience; it’s fairness, respect, and enabling workers to participate fully in cultural and religious celebrations.”

The appeal comes as workers anxiously await payment, with Christmas Eve already here. Ijele’s statement highlights the human impact of delayed salaries, emphasizing workers’ needs amidst holiday preparations.

As Kogi State workers await payment, the call for timely salaries echoes the broader principle of respecting workers’ rights and dignity. Would you like updates on Kogi State’s response or worker welfare initiatives?
