Comedian Mr Jollof sounds caution, says Trump’s remarks on Nigeria not in good faith

Popular comedian and social commentator Nelson Uchechukwu, widely known as Mr. Jollof, has issued a stern warning to Nigerians who celebrated U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent comments about alleged genocide and killings in Nigeria.

Recall that President Trump threatened to use force in Nigeria a few days ago, claiming that extreme Islamists there were killing Christians in the country without any cause.

The president of the United States declared that Nigeria will be designated as a “Country of Particular Concern” for its failure to uphold religious freedom and claimed he had instructed the American military to get ready for potential intervention.

Additionally, if the Nigerian government does not put an end to the deaths, Trump threatened to “go in guns blazing” and halt all aid to Nigeria.

Taking to his Instagram stories on Monday, Mr. Jollof criticized those who believe Trump’s threats to intervene in Nigeria’s internal affairs would lead to positive change, stressing that such optimism is misplaced.

He questioned why Nigerians would trust a leader who has previously made derogatory remarks about Africa, insisting that Trump’s renewed interest in the country is driven by political motives, not compassion.

According to Mr. Jollof, any form of foreign interference could further destabilize the nation. He warned that sanctions, economic restrictions, or military interventions disguised as peacekeeping measures could deepen poverty, cause widespread hunger, and lead to political chaos.

He wrote, “A president that once called an entire continent a sh*thole is suddenly interested in cleaning your own specific type of s**t. And you think he now perceives you differently. Dey play o.

“Nigerians think Trump is coming to bomb Boko Haram and go! Sorry, first they’d sanction Nigeria and do an economic blockade. Many of you will kpai first from hunger. Then he’d finance terrorists to stress the army and weaken it. Then he’d invade, massacre, and occupy.”
