Justice Mojisola Dada approved the application despite the EFCC’s concerns that Kuru’s trip might be linked to alleged plans to dispose of Arik Air aircraft involved in his ongoing ₦76 billion fraud trial.
The Lagos High Court in Ikeja has granted former AMCON Managing Director, Ahmed Kuru, permission to travel to the UK for urgent medical treatment, ordering the release of his international passport.
Justice Mojisola Dada approved the application despite the EFCC’s concerns that Kuru’s trip might be linked to alleged plans to dispose of Arik Air aircraft involved in his ongoing ₦76 billion fraud trial.
Kuru, alongside Kamilu Omokide, Captain Roy Ilegbodu, Union Bank, and Super Bravo Limited, faces charges of conspiracy, theft, abuse of office, and fraudulent conversion of funds. All defendants pleaded not guilty and are currently out on ₦20 million bail each.
The court declined the EFCC’s request to restrict the defendants’ assets due to lack of evidence. The trial continues.
