April 28, (THEWILL) – Borussia Dortmund experienced a setback in their Bundesliga title push after being held to a 1-1 draw by Ruhr rivals, VfL Bochum.
Edin Terzic’s side did not get off to an ideal start, falling behind to an early Anthony Losilla stunner. However, Karim Adeyemi drew Dortmund level almost instantly with a neat tap-in at the back post. Despite both sides having plenty of opportunities to win the game, neither team showed real conviction in front of goal.
In the end, Manuel Riemann’s heroics between the sticks for Bochum secured them a vital point in their bid for Bundesliga survival. The goalkeeper made a string of crucial saves towards the end of the second half to keep Dortmund at bay.
With Bayern Munich set to play against Hertha Berlin on Sunday, the draw for Dortmund means that the title race could potentially shift in Bayern’s favour by the end of that fixture on Sunday, at the Allianz Arena.
As the race for the Bundesliga title heats up, Dortmund will need to pick up their form and secure as many points as possible in their remaining games. They will look to immediately bounce back from this draw when they take on Wolfsburg in their next match, while VfL Bochum will face off against Mönchengladbach.
