Drama as Wike steps in Sowore’s saga with Tinubu, makes great revelation

The politician in a tweet on August 25, described the Nigerian president as a “criminal”, alleged that Tinubu, during his visit to Brazil, claimed that there was no corruption in Nigeria.

Source: Twitter DSS files criminal charges against Sowore After Sowore’s claim, the Department of State Services filed a criminal suit against the former presidential candidate, for defamation, alleging that he made a false statement against the president and breached Nigeria’s Cybercrimes and Terrorism Prevention laws.

The secret police also requested the social media platform Meta and X to remove the tweet, saying it was a threat to public order and national security. However, the opposition candidate declined to delete the post, alleging that the DSS was trying to silent dissenting voice, and that their action was “despicable.”

Reacting to the scenario on Thursday, September 18, the FCT Minister, while speaking at the flag off of the construction of Arterial Road N1 in Wuye, described the former presidential candidate as being “lucky” that President Tinubu respected the rule of law, adding that he may not be lucky with someone else being a president.

He added that Nigeria has become a country where anyone can make any comment and that nothing would happen to the president.

Igbokwe speaks as Sowore attacks Tinubu Wike’s comment came days after Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urged Sowore to withdraw his statement and apologise to the president, while recounting their long-standing through a mutual friend called Peter Claver.

Igbokwe disclosed that he was surprised by the comment of the opposition presidential candidate about President Tinubu, while defending the records of the president.

The APC chieftain described Sowore’s attack on the president as the same as an insult on the people who elected him. He then criticised the career journey of Sowore from his days as a student union president at the University of Lagos. He said Sowore’s impact has diminished over time.

The DSS had written to X demanding the deactivation of Sowore’s verified account, saying his recent post on Tinubu could threaten national security.

In a post on Sunday, September 7, Sowore said X officially contacted him about a letter from the DSS demanding the removal of his content.
