Edo And Benue States Ban Graduation Parties And Restrictive Textbooks

‎‎Several states are following the lead of Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinnma in implementing new education policies aimed at standardizing school practices.

Edo and Benue states have recently introduced similar directives.

In Benue State, a memo addressed to private schools, mission schools, education stakeholders, parents, and guidance counselors outlined the following:

‎Textbooks: The use of restricted, customized educational materials is banned. Schools are directed to revert to the traditional practice of senior students or pupils passing down textbooks to those in lower classes.

‎Extra-Mural Classes: Compulsory extra-m ural classes are prohibited unless specifically requested by parents.

‎Graduation Parties: Graduation parties for kindergarten, nursery, and basic schools are automatically banned.
‎The memo emphasized strict adherence to these policies starting from the 2025/2026 academic session.
