Barely 24 hours after dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, has met with Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
One of Fayose’s aides, who pleaded anonymity, hinted that the Ekiti-born politician would surely pitch his tent with the ADC.
Recall that Fayose had, on Thursday, while dumping the PDP at a press conference in Abuja, described the PDP as a “compromised platform” and accused its leadership of serving as stooges for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former aspirant, who was considered one of PDP’s frontline contenders in Ekiti, explained that he took the decision to explore another “a credible political alternative” in the polity.
During the consultation visit, Aregbesola was said to have assured him of a “welcoming political home” and encouraged him to join the party without delay.
With his imminent move to the ADC, political observers are closely watching how his defection could reshape alignments in Ekiti State ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti.
