The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, has tasked personnel to maintain high levels of professionalism during the Feb. 21 FCT Area Council elections.
Odumosu gave the charge during a meeting with senior officers on Wednesday at the NSCDC FCT Command Headquarters. He urged officers and men to remain neutral, non-partisan, and uncompromising throughout the electioneering process.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the meeting was attended by Heads of Departments (HODs), Heads of Units (HOUs), Area Commanders, and Divisional Officers (DOs).

Odumosu stated that for the Corps to remain a key player in the security architecture of the FCT, personnel must imbibe a culture of civility, integrity, and mental alertness. He noted that, beyond its core mandate of protecting lives and Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), the Corps plays a vital role in election security.
The Commandant urged senior officers to ensure the effective coordination of staff across all command formations to guarantee a free, fair, credible, and violence-free election.
“The responsibility of protecting staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), sensitive and non-sensitive materials, and the electorate—before, during, and after the election—is non-negotiable,” he said.
He further advised personnel currently undergoing training at the FCT INEC office to remain committed to the rules and standard protocols of election security management, which stipulate zero tolerance for corruption.
Odumosu urged the management team to remain proactive by ensuring their jurisdictions are thoroughly covered through intensified surveillance. He also advised them to maintain cordial relationships with traditional rulers and local communities to enhance intelligence gathering and ensure prompt responses to distress calls.
