FG tours SAGLEV facility in Lagos, commends automaker accelerating Nigeria’s transition to electric vehicles.
Factory tour comes two weeks after SAGLEV officially launched the M-Hero 917 electric SUV into the lucrative Nigerian automotive market.
SAGLEV currently produces 16 different electric vehicle models, ranging from ride-hailing cars to BRT buses, right here in Nigeria.
The Federal Government of Nigeria has commended Lagos-based SAGLEV Electromobility Company Limited for its contributions in accelerating Nigeria’s transition from Internal Combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to eco-friendly electric vehicles.
SAGLEV received this commendation from the Federal Government on Wednesday July 30th, 2025 during a familiarization tour of SAGLEV’s Electric Vehicle Assembly facility at Imota area of Lagos State.

The delegation, led by Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, the Minister for Industry, Trade & Investment, included Mr. Oluwemimo Osanipin, Director General of the Nigerian Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) as well as Mrs. Folasade Ambrose Mebedem, the Commissioner for Commerce for Lagos State.

Kudos to Mr. Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, DG of NADDC, for his leadership in driving innovation and sustainability in Nigeria’s auto sector,” said Minister for Industry, Trade & Investment.
Led by CEO Dr. Sam Gbenga Faleye, SAGLEV is pioneering Nigeria’s automotive transformation with the production of 16 different affordable electric vehicle models, ranging from ride-hailing cars to Electric BRT buses, right here in Nigeria.
The factory tour comes two weeks after SAGLEV, in partnership with China’s Dongfeng Automobile Co. Ltd., officially launched the M-Hero 917 5-seater electric SUV into the lucrative Nigerian automotive market.
At the unveiling ceremony held at the Alliance Française in Ikoyi, Lagos on July 16th 2025, SAGLEV announced that the hulking off-road-ready electric ultra-luxury SUV, like its lineup of Nigeria-made vehicles, will be locally assembled at its plant Nigeria.
According to SAGLEV, all its vehicles manufacture at its facility in Lagos come with a reliable warranty, comprehensive after-sales support and parts backed by the globally recognized Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Dongfeng.
