Fire Destroys Four Flats In Ex-Governor’s Abubakar Property

A outbreak has destroyed four out of five three-bedroom flats at No. 13 Nelson Mandela Street, Asokoro, Abuja.

According to the Federal Emergency Management Department (FEMD), Head, Public Affairs, Nkechi Isa, the incident occurred in the early afternoon when residents noticed fire emanating from solar panels mounted on the roof of the building before it rapidly spread and turned into an inferno.

The Head of FEMD Search and Rescue Team, Mr. Monday Addie, disclosed that the incident was reported at about 1:00 p.m. He confirmed that no life was lost in the incident.

However, four of the affected flats were completely razed by the fire, leading to the destruction of furniture, clothing, food items and other personal belongings of the occupants.

The affected building is said to belong to a former Governor of Zamfara State, Senator Ahmed Yerima.

Emergency response teams from FEMD, the Federal Fire Service, FCT Fire Service, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the FCT Police Command were promptly mobilised to the scene to contain the fire and prevent further damage.
