Five Construction Workers Abducted In Kwara

Five workers at a construction site in Kwara State were abducted by suspected bandits on Monday morning, triggering an immediate security response across the region.

The incident occurred at about 11:40 a.m. along the Sabaja/Owa-Onire Road. The manager of Fix Contracting Engineering Company, Alhaji Suleiman Abdullah Olanrewaju, reported the matter to authorities around 4:30 p.m.

The five individuals forcefully whisked away by the gunmen have been identified as Engr. Ademola Afolabi, Engr. Umar Lade, Fatai (Labourer), Akin (Labourer), and Yusuf (Driver).

According to Zagagola Makama, the company manager confirmed he first reported the abduction to the military before officially notifying the police.

In response, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Oreke immediately mobilized a team of police operatives to join forces with the military and local vigilantes. The combined security team is currently combing the surrounding bushes in a frantic bid to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing, and security agencies are expected to communicate further developments as the search progresses.
