Footballer Achraf Hakimi faces up to 15 years in prison for rape charges

PSG and Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi is facing up to 15 years in prison if convicted on rape charges.

This troubling case involving the Moroccan footballer traces back to February 2023. In a statement given to the Hauts-de-Seine police, a 24-year-old woman claimed she met the well-known footballer through private messages on Instagram.

After over a month of online exchanges, she agreed to meet him in person and went to his home in Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts-de-Seine) on a Friday evening ….Read More…>

The trip was arranged by the player, who ordered an Uber for her. Upon her arrival, things allegedly took a turn for the worse.

According to the complainant, Achraf Hakimi allegedly kissed her on the mouth and breasts through her clothing without her consent. Despite her protests, she claims he continued touching her and ultimately forced himself on her. After what she described as a forced encounter, she managed to push him away with her foot and escape. In shock, she texted a friend to come and pick her up. That friend later confirmed the woman’s account and emotional state to the police.

That same day, the young woman reported the alleged rape at a police station in the Paris region, although she did not file a formal complaint at the time. She later provided investigators—who had been assigned the case as part of a preliminary inquiry by the Nanterre prosecutor’s office—with messages she sent to friends, which reflected her trauma following the incident.

On March 3, 2023, Achraf Hakimi was formally charged with rape by an investigating judge and placed under judicial supervision, following police custody and the opening of a formal investigation. During questioning, the Moroccan footballer denied all allegations of assault or rape.

Up to now, PSG has consistently supported its player.

On December 8, 2023, Achraf Hakimi was confronted for the first time by his accuser during a session with the investigating magistrate. The meeting gave the young woman a chance to repeat her accusations, while Hakimi firmly denied them. PSG, which has maintained its support for the player by stating it “trusts the justice system,” cited “personal reasons” for his absence from training that day.

Throughout the investigation, the footballer claimed the allegations were part of a setup orchestrated by his accuser for financial gain—an accusation she has always denied.

“In truth, when you’re successful and things are going well, you become an easy target for certain people. It taught me that you can’t trust too many people around you,” Hakimi said in a January 2025 interview with a blogger.

With the prosecution requesting that the case be referred to a criminal court, it appears to have sided with the accuser’s version of events. “My client welcomes this development with immense relief,” said Rachel-Flore Pardo, the lawyer representing the complainant.

Responding to the news on Friday afternoon, Hakimi’s lawyer, Fanny Colin, described the prosecution’s request as “incomprehensible and senseless given the facts of the case.” She argued that the evidence already demonstrated the accuser’s dishonesty, particularly through psychological assessments conducted on her.

Colin also emphasized that her client’s stance remains unchanged. “Achraf Hakimi and I remain as calm as we were at the start of this process. If the court follows through on these recommendations, we will, of course, pursue every possible avenue of appeal,” she stated….Click Here To Continue Reading>>
