The Ghana Police Service, through the Cybercrime Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), has arrested ten individuals accused of running fake online food delivery platforms to defraud unsuspecting customers.

The first six suspects, Wonder Sakpiti, Sedinam Amaglo, Godsway Dunyo, Angela Agblemekpe, Mathew Aheto, and Fafali Amoah, were apprehended on October 1, 2025, during a targeted operation at Sogakope, following weeks of intelligence-led investigations.

Police say the suspects created fake websites and social media pages impersonating popular food brands such as Papaye, Pizzaman, KFC, and Mawarko.

Victims who placed food orders on these platforms were asked to make advance payments via mobile money, but never received their meals.

Investigations further revealed that in some cases, the fraudsters gained unauthorised access to victims’ mobile money wallets and bank accounts, pretending to assist them with payments before stealing funds.

Digital devices used in the operation were seized and are undergoing forensic analysis.

Subsequent operations led to the arrest of four more suspects, including the alleged ringleader, Elijah Sotama Etse, alias Pop Smoke, along with Elliot Sotama Atsu, Jethro Atsu, and Obed Selasi Agboli from their hideout at Haatso, Accra, on October 12, 2025.

Twelve mobile phones believed to be linked to the fraudulent activities were also recovered.

All ten suspects are in police custody and will be arraigned before the court today, Monday, October 13, 2025.

The Police Service is urging anyone who may have fallen victim to these fake platforms to report to the nearest police station to assist with ongoing investigations.
