The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has rejected claims circulating on social media and other platforms that the government has conducted a cabinet reshuffle, labelling the information as false and misleading.
In a statement released on June 6, the party called on the public to ignore these reports and to avoid sharing unverified information.
The NDC stated that these claims are part of intentional efforts to disseminate misinformation and generate unnecessary confusion among the populace.
“As we all strive to curb the menace of deliberate misinformation, some individuals will stop at nothing to poison the atmosphere,” the statement said.
The party emphasised that any official communication regarding government decisions should be confirmed through authorised channels before being shared.
It highlighted that Felix Kwakye Ofosu continues to serve as the official spokesperson for the administration and should be the primary source for information concerning government announcements.
“The official spokesperson for this administration is Felix Kwakye Ofosu. Kindly verify any such information through his official channels before sharing it,” the statement urged.
The NDC also warned the public to act responsibly when using social media and other communication platforms, cautioning that the Cyber Security Act imposes penalties for the spread of false information.
“The Cyber Security Act can have serious implications, so let us all be mindful and responsible in our communication,” the statement added.
