GHANA: Otto Addo names 24-man squad for Chad, Mali World Cup qualifiers …Team to open camp Sept 1

• Coach Otto Addo Black Stars Head Coach, Otto Addo, on Tuesday named a 24-man squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali next month.

Midfielder Thomas Partey was the biggest returnee to the team that also boast of regulars like Mohammed Kudus, Jordan Ayew, Gideon Mensah, Antoine Semenyo, and Inaki Williams.

Union Berlin left-back, Derrick Arthur Köhn, who has been on the radar of the technical team, also earned his first call-up after an impressive season with Werder Bremen.

Tariq Lamptey Thomas Partey The 26-year-old moved from Galatasaray to Union Berlin this summer, following an eye-catching performance on loan at Werder Bremen last season, which culminated in 27 appearances and two goals in the German Bunde­sliga.

Winger Kamal Deen Sulemana, who recently switched from South­ampton to Serie A side, Atalanta, earns a spot after a bright start in Italy. France-based midfielder, Elisha Owusu, returns to the squad after recovering from a long-term injury.

Youngster Caleb Yirenkyi, who impressed at the Unity Cup in London, is rewarded for his strong performances with FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark.

Defender Tariq Lamptey returns to the side, while Chris­topher Bonsu Baah and Ireland-based goalkeeper Joseph Anang secure spots for the double-header.

The full list include goalkeepers: Lawrence Ati Zigi (St. Gallen), Joseph Anang (St. Patrick’s Athletic) and Ben­jamin Asare (Accra Hearts of Oak).

Defenders: Gideon Mensah (AJ Aux­erre), Derrick Arthur Kohn (Union Berlin), Mohamed Salisu (AS Monaco), Jerome Opoku (Istanbul Ba­saksehir), Alexander Djiku (Fenerbahce), Jonas Adjetey (FC Basel), Tariq Lamptey (Brighton and Hover Albion), and Caleb Yirenkyi (FC Nordsjaelland).

Midfielders: Elisha Owusu (AJ Aux­erre), Mohammed Kudus (Tottenham Hotspur), Ibrahim Osman (AJ Auxerre), Ibrahim Sulemana (Atalanta BC), Thom­as Partey (Villarreal FC) and Abdul Salis Samed (OGC Nice).

The forwards are: Antoine Semenyo (AFC Bournemouth), Kamaldeen Sele­mana (Atalanta BC), Joseph Paintsil (LA Galaxy), Jerry Afriyie (Raal La Louviere), Jordan Ayew (Leicester City), Christo­pher Bonsu Baah AL-Qadsiah) and Inaki Williams (Atletic Club).

Meanwhile, the team is expected to commence camping in Accra on Monday, September 1, ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Les Aigles of Mali.

According to a sched­ule released by the FA, the team will train for the first time at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday and Tuesday before departing for N’djamena on Tuesday evening for the Match day 7 fixture on Thursday, September 4, 2025.

According to the schedule, Friday, Sep­tember 5 would be for recovery in Accra. That would be opened to the media and members of the public.

Training would continue at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, September 6 but not opened to the media.

The final training session would be on Sunday, September 7 at the Accra Sports Stadium with the first 15 minutes of the training session open to the media.

Following this would be the epic World Cup qualifier against the Malian national team.

Ghana currently tops Group I in the African Qualifi­ers with 15 points after five wins and one loss from six matches.
