Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun , has announced a ₦50 million cash reward for the Super Falcons as they prepare for their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations ( WAFCON ) qualifying match against the Amazons of Benin Republic.
The governor revealed the donation during a courtesy visit by the national team to his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. He described the Falcons as a symbol of determination and national pride.
Abiodun expressed confidence in the team’s ability to secure victory, assuring them of Ogun State’s full support as they take to the pitch at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta.
Boosting morale ahead of crucial qualifier
Governor Abiodun said the gesture was aimed at motivating the players to maintain their winning mentality as they continue their quest for another WAFCON appearance.
He lauded the team’s recent performances, noting that the Super Falcons remain a beacon of excellence in African women’s football.
The governor also praised their discipline, teamwork, and contribution to Nigeria’s sporting image on the global stage.
Abiodun added that his administration takes particular interest in women’s sports and will continue to create platforms for female athletes to excel both locally and internationally.
