The pot, capable of holding 22,619 liters, was made in Gbagada and transported to Eko Hotel in Lagos for the event.
The delivery of the pot, branded with “Gino,” was closely monitored and shared in videos online.
Guinness World Record holder and food influencer, Hilda Baci, has received the giant pot she will use to cook what is expected to be the world’s biggest pot of jollof rice.
The enormous red pot, which can hold 22,619 litres, was fabricated in Gbagada and transported overnight to Eko Hotel in Lagos, the venue for the event. Videos circulating online show the pot, branded with “Gino,” being delivered under tight supervision.
In a post on Instagram, Hilda confirmed its arrival, saying: “At 4am this morning our pot was safely transported from Gbagada where it was fabricated to Eko Hotel where the event is taking place. I’m still pinching myself this is actually happening in less than 24 hours.”
She had earlier explained that the project will require 250 bags of rice, which is about 5,278 kilogrammes of raw basmati rice, with the goal of filling the pot to roughly 75–80% of its capacity.
The cooking will also include 1,583 kilogrammes of tomato paste, divided among tomato paste, pepper chicken paste, and jollof paste, to create what she described as the “most delicious, largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice ever.”
Hilda Baci rose to fame in 2023 after breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon. With this new challenge, she aims to make history again while celebrating Nigerian food culture.
Excitement is already building in Lagos, with many residents and fans online saying they are “ready to chop” once the cooking begins.
The event, tagged #GinoWorldJollofFestWithHildaBaci, will welcome thousands of food lovers and is expected to highlight Nigeria’s rich culinary heritage on a global stage.
