Martinez is one of many Man United stars out injured
Martinez has suffered the worst of the injuries with concerns instantly growing after his substitution late on against Sevilla in the Europa League quarter-finals.
His absence saw Man United start Harry Maguire against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, with the club captain not having the best first half – being booked within the first three minutes, while also surviving a penalty scare after the ball struck him on the arm.
So with Red Devils fans keen to see their star centre-back in the starting line-up again, how long will they have to wait to have Martinez back in action?
How long is Lisandro Martinez out for?
Unfortunately, Martinez has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
The Argentinian has been diagnosed with a metatarsal fracture suffered during Man United’s draw with Sevilla in the Europa League.
He turned awkwardly during the game and damaged his foot before sitting down and asking for treatment in the 86th minute.
Martinez was then carried off in tears by his own international teammates and Sevilla players, Marcos Acuna and Gonzalo Montiel.

Man United confirmed the news that he will be sidelined until the end of the season, releasing a statement.
The statement read: “Lisandro Martinez has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after fracturing a metatarsal bone in his foot.
“However, the Argentinian defender is expected to make a full recovery in time to be ready for the start of next season.
“Martinez sustained the injury in the 86th minute of Thursday night’s 2-2 draw with Sevilla in the quarter-final of the UEFA Europa League.
“While Lisandro’s first season at United has sadly come to a premature end, it will remain a memorable one for the centre-back having made 45 club appearances whilst establishing himself as a firm fan favourite and helping the team to win the Carabao Cup.”
The defender took to Instagram to comment on his injury
Martinez himself then took to social media to address the Red Devils fans after the news was revealed.
The defender’s post on Instagram read: “Not the way I imagined what’s been a very special season would end, but sometimes we face obstacles along the way that we have to overcome to make us stronger and we learn from them.
“I know that I’ll be back very soon to go for more. In the meantime, I’ll continue to support all my teammates to achieve our objectives.
“The number of messages and support I’ve received has been amazing, they’re giving me strength and encouragement at this moment.
“Many, many thanks to you all from the bottom of my heart.”
