HYPERDEC Seeks EFCC Partnership To Strengthen Anti-Corruption Drive

The Hydro-Electric Power Producing Area Development Commission, HYPERDEC, has sought partnership with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, in tackling corruption, economic and financial crimes in its working environments

The request was made when the newly-appointed HYPERDEC State Coordinator, AbdulHameed Yazid, led by other members of the Commission on a courtesy visit to the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the EFCC.

Yazid noted that the EFCC has made tremendous impact in the fight against corruption, economic and financial crimes, adding that HYPERDEC was soliciting sustainable collaboration with the Commission towards achieving their shared mandates.

While stating that HYPERDEC saw collaboration with the EFCC as a necessity, Yazid observed that with the establishment of his Commission, the people of Kaduna and other areas within its coverage will begin to enjoy equitable and sustainable development, especially areas covered by the operations of dams and other hydro-electric power infrastructure.

The Acting Zonal Commander, Kaduna Zonal Command of the EFCC, Assistant Commander of EFCC Bawa Usman Kaltungo commended HYPERDEC on its drive for collaboration with the Commission, noting that such collaboration will not only be beneficial to the people, but also to both agencies of the government.

According to him, “No organisation is an island unto itself. The Commission is ready to collaborate with the agency as requested.”

Kaltungo, who reiterated that the fight against corruption was a collective responsibility, urged the HYPERDEC team to ensure transparency and accountability in the discharge of its responsibilities, especially in the award of contracts.
