‘I find him insufferable’ – French World Cup winner explains why he’s ‘happy’ Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar is out for season

Neymar’s injury has left his season in tatters but he has got no sympathy from one prominent member of French media.

Former Birmingham City, Barcelona and AC Milan forward Christophe Dugarry has torn into the Paris Saint-Germain superstar following the news that he will be out for the rest of the campaign.

Neymar injured his ankle against Lille last month

The 1998 World Cup winner savaged the Brazilian by explaining how his injury could be a huge boost for Christophe Galtier’s side.

Dugarry, who has made a number of controversial statements in French TV studios, said: “I’m happy for PSG that Neymar is injured.

“I think this is an incredible opportunity, an amazing stroke of luck for Christophe Galtier.

“The team is much more balanced with five defenders, three midfielders and Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi up front.

“I can’t bear to see him anymore, I can’t stand him anymore.

“I find him insufferable in his dribbling and with that attitude.

But there was no sympathy from Dugarry, who played for Birmingham

“I don’t want to see him on the field anymore, I’m tired.”

Neymar suffered an ankle injury in a collision with Lille’s Benjamin Andre last month in an entertaining 4-3 PSG win over their Ligue 1 rivals in February.

The 31-year-old had to be stretchered off the pitch in tears but initial scans did not show a fracture of the ankle.

However, it has since emerged that the Brazil international will have to undergo surgery and has flown to Doha, Qatar for the operation.

And it will rule him out for up to four months after injuring the same ankle that suffered problems at the Qatar World Cup in the winter.

It means that his season is over and it could be the last time that he ever plays with Lionel Messi, whose contract will expire at the end of the campaign.

It could be the last time he plays with Messi

Neymar’s absence makes PSG’s task more difficult when they face Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Ligue 1 champions are a goal down having lost the first leg 1-0 at the Parc des Princes while Bayern have not lost at the Allianz Arena all season.

But Galtier has changed the set-up in make amends for Neymar’s injury by deploying Messi and Kylian Mbappe up front in a two while playing a three-at-the-back system that has landed big wins over Lille and Marseille in recent weeks.

It has led Messi to insist that PSG are able to overturn their goal deficit to the German giants as his contract in Paris continues to tick down.
