‘Impeachment Move Against Kano Deputy Governor Driven Politically’ – Kwankwasiyya Movement

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has asserted that the impeachment move against the Kano State Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, by the State House of Assembly may be driven more by political considerations than by genuine constitutional necessity.

Naija News reports that the movement, in a statement issued on Friday, through its spokesperson, Habibu Saleh, described the unfolding development as worrying and urged political actors in the state to avoid actions that may appear politically motivated.

Selah warned that impeachment must never be reduced to a tool for settling political disagreements or rearranging political alignments, stressing that such a move could worsen political divisions in the state.

According to Selah, the state leadership that the current administration came to power through the collective efforts and sacrifices of thousands of Kwankwasiyya supporters across Kano State.

He said, “The people of Kano are closely watching the unfolding events, and there is a growing concern that the impeachment move may be driven more by political considerations than by genuine constitutional necessity.

“Impeachment must never be reduced to a tool for settling political disagreements or rearranging political alignments. It must be guided strictly by justice, fairness and the interest of the people.

“The victory that produced this government was not the achievement of any single individual. It was the product of the sacrifices, loyalty and unity of Kwankwasiyya faithful across the 44 local governments of Kano State.

“Those in power must remember the collective struggle that made their success possible. Political authority should never be used in a way that creates the impression of abandoning the alliances and loyalties that built the movement.”

Selah also called on members of the Kano State House of Assembly to carry out their constitutional duties with independence, fairness and a strong sense of responsibility to the people.

He maintained that the Kwankwasiyya Movement remains committed to peace, democratic stability and the protection of the political mandate given to the current administration by the people of Kano.

He added, “The authority of the Assembly comes directly from the people, and such authority must be exercised with wisdom, fairness and a clear sense of responsibility to the electorate.

“History has shown that when political power is used in ways that appear unjust or vindictive, the people ultimately deliver their verdict through democratic means.

“At this critical moment, all political actors must act with restraint and wisdom, remembering the sacrifices of the millions of supporters whose collective efforts brought this government into office.”
