August 22, (THEWILL) — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Kamilu Sa’idu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the Kaura Namoda South Constituency by-election in Zamfara State.

The election, initially declared inconclusive on August 16 following the cancellation of votes in five polling units, was concluded with a rerun on Thursday, August 21, in Sakajiki and Kyambarawa wards.

Announcing the final results, the Returning Officer, Prof. Lawal Sa’ad, said Sa’idu polled 8,182 votes to defeat his closest rival from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who secured 5,544 votes.

The by-election was conducted to fill the vacancy created by the death of Aminu Kasuwar Daji, the lawmaker representing the constituency in the Zamfara State House of Assembly, in April this year.
