INEC to begin display of new voters’ register on Dec 15

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will display the Register of Voters for public scrutiny from 15 to 21 December 2025, following the end of the first quarter of the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

The Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, explaining that the register will be available at local government offices where registration activities were conducted.

She encouraged citizens—especially those who registered, transferred their voting location, or updated their details during this phase—to take advantage of the statutory window to confirm their information, report errors, or flag ineligible or deceased individuals still appearing on the register.

Eta-Messi noted that the online pre-registration phase of the CVR commenced on 18 August 2025, followed by in-person registration across all 774 local government areas, INEC state offices and the FCT from 25 August.

The first quarter of the exercise is scheduled to close on 10 December 2025.

She added that as of 28 November 2025, INEC had recorded 9,891,801 online pre-registrations nationwide. Out of this figure, 2,572,054 registrations have been fully completed—1,503,832 online and 1,068,222 physical.

Eta-Messi further explained that the CVR remains suspended in Anambra State and the Federal Capital Territory due to ongoing electoral processes. New dates for the resumption of voter registration in those locations will be announced later.

INEC confirmed that the second phase of the nationwide CVR will begin on 5 January 2026 as earlier scheduled.
