ABUJA – A political group, Asiwaju Shettima Presidential Agenda, (ASPA) on Monday said, Osita Izunaso’s emergence as the Senate President would enable the All Progressive Congress (APC) get a foothold in the Southeast geopoliitical zone, while facilitating national cohesion.
The director-general of the group, Igho Osiebe, said in a press conference on Monday, that Izunaso who is the oldest ranking Senator from the South-East, should be given an opportunity to create balance in national geo-poliitical representation.
“We urge the party to nominate Senator Osita Izunaso, the most qualified ranking senator from the South East Zone, who fulfils the issue of merit and zoning,” Osiebe said.
He also suggested that the choice of Izunaso would open the path way to endearing the ruling party to the minds of the people.
He stressed further that the choice of Izunaso would further guarantee the victory of the party in Imo State, ahead of the forthcoming Imo Gubernatorial election.
Osiebe said that Izunaso’s track record and candidacy has public appeal, being a former Senator with several bills sponsor to his credits, adding that,”his unblemish record is good for the party’s image and future election victory.”
The group also urged the Presidency and National Assembly to support the National Assembly leadership with leadership that appeals to citizens and would enable the party win future elections.
