Japan makes history after beating England

Japan on Tuesday made history after beating England in an international friendly match on Tuesday.

The match, which ended 1-0 in favour of Japan, was played at Wembley Stadium.

Recall that Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma’s first-half goal gave Japan the victory against the Three Lions.

However, according to OptaJoe, Japan’s victory at Wembley saw them become the first-ever Asian team to beat England.

Meanwhile, Japan will be at the 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament, taking place in the USA, Mexico and Canada.

They are in Group F and will face the likes of Sweden, Tunisia and the Netherlands.
