Jonathan, Botswana President, governors, to receive Democracy Heroes Award 2025

Goodluck Jonathan, former Nigerian President, Duma Gideon Boko,, Botswana’s President, and several serving Nigerian governors are among the prominent leaders and personalities set to be honoured at the 2025 Democracy Heroes Award Africa scheduled for October 16 in Abuja.

The award ceremony, organised by the Face of Democracy Nigeria (FDN) Projects, celebrates individuals whose leadership, innovation, and impact have advanced democratic governance and socio-economic development across the continent.

Among the awardees for this year’s edition are several Nigerian governors including Borno, Cross River, Ondo, Oyo, Katsina, Delta, Ebonyi, Kaduna, and Kebbi States.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, will also be honoured for his public service contributions.

Beyond politics, the Democracy Heroes Award will spotlight entrepreneurs, business leaders, and entertainers who have played vital roles in entrenching stability and prosperity by creating jobs, empowering youths, and supporting poverty alleviation measures.

With the theme “Legacy of Leadership: Powering Africa’s Future”, the 2025 edition seeks to inspire transformational leadership that leaves lasting impact on governance and society.

Olufunsho Ajagbonna, popularly known as Fajag, Project Director of FDN, congratulated the awardees, noting that the initiative was designed to encourage outstanding performance and service to humanity.

“We are committed to sustaining this platform that celebrates excellence by recognising leaders and innovators who have distinguished themselves in the service of their people,” Ajagbonna said.

According to him, since its inception, the Democracy Heroes Award Africa has become a major continental platform for honouring excellence in governance, business, and entertainment, strengthening the values of democracy while promoting unity and progress across Africa.
