JUST IN: JAMB Officials Walk Out of Session with House of Reps Members

There was tension at the National Assembly on Wednesday as officials of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) abruptly walked out during a session with the House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education and Examination Bodies.

The drama began when the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, failed to appear in person and was represented by a Director, Mufutau Bello.

Things quickly went south after Bello asked journalists covering the session to step out, claiming the documents he planned to present were “sensitive.”

Lawmakers refused the request, insisting that their proceedings were open to the public and guided by the constitution.

The argument grew heated, and in a surprising twist, Bello ordered his team to leave the room, sparking outrage among members of the Committee.

The lawmakers, visibly angered, directed the Sergeant-at-Arms to arrest the JAMB officials for disrespecting the House, but the delegation had already exited the building.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the Committee later resolved to summon the Registrar to appear before it in person.

JAMB has now been given until Tuesday next week to present all requested documents and respond to the lawmakers’ queries.

The Committee also warned that if Prof. Oloyede fails to show up, a warrant of arrest could be issued against him.
