JUST IN :  Phyna’s sister, Ruth Otabor, dies weeks after devastating truck accident

Ruth Otabor, sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna, has died, just weeks after suffering severe injuries in a road accident.

The family confirmed her passing in a statement issued on Sunday by Eko Solicitors & Advocates, revealing that Ruth died around 6:30 a.m. on August 31, 2025.

“With a heavy heart, the family regrets to announce the passing on to glory of their daughter, sister, and mother on this 31st Day of August, 2025 at about 06:30Hrs,” the statement read.

They appealed for privacy during their period of mourning.

“The family is presently grieving and will appreciate to be given a private moment to mourn the departed. The funeral arrangement will be communicated to the public in due course,” it added.

Ruth’s death follows a horrific crash on August 13 near Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, where a truck linked to the Dangote Group crushed her leg. Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle was eventually halted by a bystander, but Ruth had to undergo an emergency amputation.

The tragedy occurred just six days after she graduated from Auchi Polytechnic, deepening the shock for loved ones and fans.
