JUST IN: Presidency accuses El-Rufai of double standards on bandit payments

Special adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has accused Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna, of inconsistency in his stance on banditry.

Onanuga, in a post on X on Monday, described El-Rufai as “the master of ambivalence”.

He said the former governor once championed the payment of bandits to maintain peace but is now opposing it “in the name of politics”.

“El-Rufai is the master of ambivalence. Once upon a time, he supported and led the way in paying bandits to calm them. Today, in the name of politics, he opposes it,” Onanuga wrote.

The former governor recently accused the federal and Kaduna state governments of paying bandits.
