August 25, (THEWILL) — The Kano State Government has dismissed allegations of withdrawal and diversion of ₦6.5bn from the state treasury, describing them as false and politically motivated.
The clarification was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

According to him, the claims circulating on social media and published by an online platform, Daily Nigerian, on August 22, 2025, were targeted at tarnishing the image of key political aides of the government.
“The digital media space in the last few days has been awash with a series of false narratives bordering on accountability, trust, and financial worthiness of some key political aides of the Kano State Government.
“One of the ill-intended narratives, most likely sponsored, was a publication on Daily Nigerian… alleging withdrawal and diversion of ₦6.5 billion from the state treasury,” the statement read in part.
Bature explained that the matter, which is already before the High Court, concerns the Director-General of the Protocol Directorate at Government House, Alhaji Abdullahi Rogo.
He stressed that, without prejudice to the litigation, it was necessary to clarify how the Directorate of Protocol operates, noting that its financial structure was not different from those obtainable in other states and the federal government.
“Government makes bold to say every cash outflow into Ministries, Departments, and Agencies is properly budgeted with clear codes well spelt out in the fiscal policy of the state.
“Hence, no individual in government MDAs handles public funds without a designated purpose,” he added.
