KANO – Kano Special Advisers Forum on Tuesday threw its weight behind Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s second term in office, praising his visionary leadership and people-oriented policies.
Addressing a press conference at the Kano State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat, the Chairman of the Forum, Comrade Baffa Sani Gaya, said Governor Yusuf has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to good governance, accountability, and inclusive development since assuming office in May 2023.
Gaya highlighted several achievements of the administration, including the strengthening of financial discipline through the Treasury Single Account (TSA), prompt payment of salaries and pensions, and the clearance of over ₦28 billion in outstanding gratuities and death benefits.
In the education sector, Gaya said the governor has declared a state of emergency, recruited thousands of teachers, established new institutions, and sponsored 1,001 first-class graduates for postgraduate studies abroad.
The Forum also commended the administration’s efforts in healthcare, infrastructure development, agriculture, commerce, and social welfare, citing specific initiatives and projects.
“The governor has established the Kano State Centre for Disease Control, recruited medical personnel, and provided free maternal healthcare,” Gaya said.
“He has also embarked on several infrastructure development projects, including flyover and road construction, urban renewal initiatives, and installation of solar-powered streetlights and modern traffic control systems.”
In agriculture, the Forum applauded the recruitment of 1,000 extension workers, distribution of over 500 trucks of fertilizer, and empowerment of more than 100,000 farmers.
The Forum described Governor Yusuf as a “transformational and inclusive leader” and endorsed him for a second term, pledging continued support for his developmental agenda for Kano State.
