The L.A.-based basketball team the Los Angeles Waves are somewhat ready for next season in the first trailer for season two of the Kate Hudson-fronted Netflix comedy Running Point.

“Isla Gordon (Hudson) is no longer the surprise choice to lead the Los Angeles Waves, she’s the one everyone is watching,” the season’s synopsis reads. Hudson’s Isla is determined to take the pro team all the way in the trailer.

“This year, I plan on winning it all because the L.A. Waves are run by a very savvy and innovative leader,” she tells her gathered brothers (Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur and Fabrizio Guido) as she falls trying to sit in her chair. Isla’s failure to make it into her chair is just the beginning of the chaos she’s at the center of during the nearly two-minute trailer, including the return of her brother and biggest professional hurdle Cam, played by Justin Theroux.

“With the franchise finally rebounding after last year’s scandal, Isla is determined to prove she’s not just keeping the seat warm for her brother Cam (Theroux). What she doesn’t know is that Cam is quietly maneuvering behind the scenes to reclaim his post, turning every misstep into ammunition,” the season’s synopsis explains. Hudson, Tarver, MacArthur, Guido and Theroux are joined by Brenda Song, Chet Hanks, Toby Sandeman and Uche Agada to round out the season’s main cast.

The synopsis continues, “As she tries to balance the pressure of running a franchise with devoting time to her personal life, every decision on and off the court counts. To survive the family power plays and the scrutiny of the board, she’ll have to rip up last season’s game plan and come up with a whole new playbook if she wants to close out the season on top.”

Running Point has also added a slew of star power for this season’s reoccurring and guest casts. Ray Romano, Max Greenfield, Jay Ellis, Roberto Sanchez, Jon Glaser, Scott Evans, Rob Huebel, Marissa Reyes, Blake Anderson, Ken Marino, Tommy Dewey, Richa Moorjani, Aliyah Turner and Jake Picking serve as the season’s reoccurring guest cast. Ike Barinholtz, Octavia Spencer, Lisa Rinna, Nicole Richie and Scott Speedman are also set to appear.

Executive produced by Mindy Kaling, Barinholtz and David Stassen, Running Point is produced by Kaling’s Kaling International in association with Warner Bros. Television, where the multi-hyphenate is under an overall deal. Stassen serves as the showrunner, while Hudson, Howard Klein, Jeanie Buss and Linda Rambis also executive produce.

Running Point drops on Netflix on April 23. Watch the full trailer below.
