KENYA: HiiL Announces the 2023 Justice Entrepreneurship School to Support Justice-Focused Startups in Nigeria

HiiL, The Hague Institute for Innovation of Law,a leading organisation in the justice innovation space, has launched the call for applications for the 2023 Justice Entrepreneurship School ( JES), an incubation programme designed to support late ideation or incubation stage startups with solutions to Nigeria’s pressing justice issues. Since 2021, HiiL’s JES has supported over 20 startups in Nigeria, including Legalnaija, SealedApp, AjoBank, Restorative Justice for Africa Initiative. The program focuses on a wide range of justice issues, such as neighbour disputes, crime issues, money issues, land issues, domestic violence, and housing issues highlighted in its recently launched Justice Needs Survey as the most pressing justice issues faced by Nigerians.

The 2023 JES will offer an exciting curriculum covering lean startup principles, sustainable business creation, customer discovery, justice innovation, and pitching. Selected startups will benefit from workshops delivered by industry experts, a network of expert mentors, access to HiiL’s global network of justice innovators and stakeholders in the ecosystem, international exposure, and potential investment opportunities.

The 8-week programme begins on June 3, 2023, and will conclude with a startup showcase day on July 29th, 2023.

Applications are open to solo founders and founding teams with a prototype or minimum viable product (MVP) solution addressing justice issues.
