KENYA: “Just Relax”: Opposition Unveils Plan to Protect 2027 General Election Vote Security

Senior leaders from Kenya’s United Opposition have stepped up efforts to calm fears of electoral malpractice ahead of the 2027 General Election, assuring supporters that their votes will remain secure.

Speaking to a packed congregation at PCEA Embakasi Parish in Nairobi, three of the coalition’s most prominent figures, including Fred Matiang’i ,  Kalonzo Musyoka , and  Rigathi Gachagua, declared that the opposition has already begun putting in place firm mechanisms to prevent interference with election results.

Matiang’i Leans on Security Record to Assure Voters
Matiang’i, the former Interior Cabinet Secretary and flagbearer of the  Jubilee Party , anchored his confidence in his background in national security and education reform.

“I guarded exams, and there was no cheating; nobody will steal our votes,” he declared.

The former CS pointed to his tenure in both the Education and Interior ministries as evidence of his ability to enforce compliance and shut down malpractice. He reminded supporters of his crackdown on exam irregularities and his strict enforcement of legal frameworks while overseeing internal security.

Matiang’i promised that the opposition would apply the same level of vigilance and oversight to the 2027 General Election to protect the integrity of the vote.

By invoking his administrative track record, he sought to reassure voters concerned about potential election fraud and result manipulation.

Gachagua Says Opposition Has Locked Down Key Regions
Gachagua, who leads the  Democracy for the Citizens Party  (DCP), echoed Matiang’i’s sentiments and urged supporters not to give in to fear.

“I can see you had some fear that our votes would be stolen. It is just that you do not know how prepared we are,” he said.

Projecting strong confidence in the coalition’s electoral prospects, Gachagua claimed the opposition has consolidated support in several strategic regions.

According to him, Kalonzo Musyoka has secured Ukambani and the Coast region. He added that leaders such as Eugene Wamalwa, George Natembeya, and Edwin Sifuna have anchored support in Western Kenya, while Nairobi and the Mt Kenya region are also firmly leaning toward the opposition.

“Just relax, do not be worried,” he told the cheering crowd.

Kalonzo Questions Ruto’s Projected 2027 Margin
Wiper Patriotic Front  leader Kalonzo Musyoka turned his focus to recent remarks by  William Ruto , who suggested he would secure re-election in 2027 by a margin of two to three million votes.

“When William Ruto says he will win the election with two million votes, what does he mean?” Kalonzo wondered.

The veteran politician argued that Kenya’s political climate is shifting rapidly as more citizens seek a new direction. He described the momentum building across the country as “revolutionary,” maintaining that ordinary Kenyans are determined to use the ballot box to chart a different course in 2027.
