1. Kaluma Boy TikToker Kaluma Boy, born Vincent Kagwi, touched the hearts of many with his unwavering devotion to his ailing father, who suffered a stroke in 2024.

Living in Othaya, Chinga village, Kaluma regularly shared videos showing his daily struggles, taking up odd jobs to provide for his father while also caring for him at home.

His content often featured a song by dancehall singer Busy Signal, whose lyrics about hope and resilience resonated strongly with viewers.

Moved by his story, fellow TikTokers and well-wishers visited his home in large numbers, raising funds to support the family.

A thanksgiving service held at Bishop Muthee Kiengei’s church, Jesus Christ Compassion Ministries (JCM) further boosted donations.

Kaluma received a scholarship, his family was gifted land, and a house is currently being built for them in Chaka.

His father also received specialised medical care for over two months, leading to noticeable improvement in his condition.

KK, born Zakaria Kariuki, passed away in July after a brief illness. The news was confirmed by his close friend Kafengo, who later said the comedian died due to stomach-related complications.

He was widely loved for his hilarious skits, especially his spot-on impersonations of former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.

His death sparked an outpouring of grief nationwide, with fans and fellow creators rallying around his family.

In the aftermath, Kafengo secured a job working with Dennis Itumbi at the Office of the President, while KK’s sister received a college sponsorship.

The teacher from Migori county was arrested by DCI officers and transported to Nairobi for questioning.

Hours later, he died while in police custody. Authorities initially claimed he had hit his head on a cell wall, seemingly a cover-up.

However, an autopsy report later revealed he died from blunt force trauma and neck compression, indicating that he was assaulted before he passed away.

CCTV footage further contradicted the timeline of events that police gave, showing that Albert was taken to Mbagathi Hospital while already dead.

It later emerged that his arrest followed a complaint filed by Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat over the publication of information about him.

The revelations sparked nationwide outrage, protests, and calls for accountability. Lagat temporarily stepped aside as investigations continued.

Albert was eventually laid to rest in an emotional ceremony attended by grieving family and thousands of Kenyans moved by the circumstances that led to his demise.

Nduta was convicted of drug smuggling, but her family claimed she had been tricked into ferrying contraband without knowing its contents.

Her plight sparked intense public debate and diplomatic engagement.

Following intervention by the Kenyan government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nduta was spared execution and instead handed a life sentence, allowing her the opportunity to seek clemency from Vietnam’s president, a decision that brought relief to many Kenyans.

Millicent, a mother of two from Githurai, had been bedridden for four years, relying entirely on her young sons as caregivers. The boys even changed her diapers, a revelation that shocked and saddened many Kenyans.

Through the intervention of comedian-turned-activist Eric Omondi and his Team Sisi Kwa Sisi initiative, Millicent received medical care, while Kenyans raised millions to support her family.

Months later, although she remains bedridden, Eric has built an apartment complex for her family, ensuring a stable source of income for them. One of the houses is already complete and will serve as their own.

The veteran politician played a pivotal role in Kenya’s political landscape, having championed multiparty democracy in the 1990s and repeatedly putting his life on the line for the country, a legacy that earned him the nickname The Enigma.

Raila passed away in India after suffering a heart attack during his routine morning walk. His remains were swiftly repatriated to Kenya in honour of his wish to be buried within 72 hours.

He was accorded a State Funeral at Nyayo Stadium, where his body was also displayed for public viewing.

Raila was later laid to rest at the family mausoleum, Kang’o ka Jaramogi, in Bondo, during an emotional ceremony.

His death left many Kenyans devastated and in disbelief, arguably making it the most emotional news the country received in 2025.
