Source: Facebook Kahiga sparked a storm after insinuating that Raila had blocked the Mt Kenya region from receiving development projects, while other regions benefited instead.

Kahiga further implied that Raila’s death had reset the political landscape, forcing all political players to rethink their strategies ahead of the 2027 elections.

What did Karen Nyamu say about Mutahi Kahiga? He suggested that development resources had been unfairly directed to certain regions for political gain, but that Odinga’s passing had disrupted these plans.

Kahiga also framed Odinga’s death as a divine intervention, claiming it was part of God’s plan to balance political tensions and restore fairness.

His remarks drew criticism from ordinary Kenyans and the political class.

Nominated Nairobi Senator Nyamu distanced herself and the region from the remarks.

In a post on Wednesday, October 22, Nyamu shared a photo of herself looking at her phone while slamming Kahiga’s comments. She also backed Kenyans from the region for standing up against the governor’s remarks.

“I’m happy to see my people of Mount Kenya condemning the weird utterances by that governor. We do not associate ourselves with such madness,” she wrote. Kenyans reacted to Nyamu’s sentiments by pointing to a deeper issue at hand.

CoG chairperson Ahmed Abdullahi condemned Kahiga’s remarks as “reckless, insensitive, and inhumane,” emphasising that they did not reflect the council’s views.

Abdullahi disassociated the CoG from Kahiga’s statements, calling it unacceptable to celebrate Raila’s death due to political reasons.

He also highlighted Raila’s significant role in Kenya’s history, particularly in devolution.

Abdullahi announced that the council would meet to discuss the matter further and release additional statements.
