KENYA: Morocco’s earnings at CHAN 2024 after beating Madagascar in final

Morocco has lifted the CHAN 2024 trophy after defeating Madagascar in the final at Kasarani Stadium. They will also take home a significant cheque in prize money.

The Atlas Lions lifted their third title in front of Gianni Infantino after a brilliant performance agaisnt the Barea.

They went down early after conceding a spectacular goal, but bounced back to take a 2-1 lead before Madagascar equalised. Oussama Lamlioui scored a sensational goal to win it late in the second half.

How did Morocco perform in CHAN 2024? Morocco entered the tournament as the favourites, strengthened by their strong CHAN reputation.

Despite a 1-0 loss to Kenya in the group stage, which raised concerns about their campaign, they swiftly recovered with standout performances.

Tarik Sektioui’s team has played seven matches, winning five, losing one, and earning a penalty shootout victory over Senegal to reach the final.

They have secured victories over Angola, Zambia, DR Congo, Senegal, and Madagascar, with Harambee Stars being the only team to defeat them. They clinched the title in 2018 and 2020.

How much has Morocco earned for lifting CHAN? Morocco will be awarded $3.5 million (approximately KSh 452 million), while the runners-up will receive $1.2 million (approximately KSh 194 million).

The teams finishing in third and fourth place will receive $700,000 (around KSh 9.5 million) and $600,000 (around KSh 7.7 million), respectively.

Harambee Stars earned KSh 450,000, which is approximately KSh 58 million for reaching the quarter-finals.
