In a press briefing on Wednesday, October 22, the county chief defended his sentiments, arguing that he was not celebrating Raila’s demise.
“What I meant is that under the current broad-based government, we’ve seen skewed development and politicall the loss of Raila Odinga sent everyone back to the drawing board. As the popular saying goes God takes the best and it is in this context that I made those remarks in vernacular. The remarks I made are my personal views and no way should be associated with a community’s position or any political affiliation nor the Council of Governors, In noting the huge public interest that this issue has generated, I am taking responsibility for the real and perceived meaning of my remarks,” Kahiga stated.
