The officer, attached to the elite G Company of the GSU, was pronounced dead on arrival at Kenyatta National Hospital after suffering severe blood loss.
His identity has been withheld pending notification of next of kin. Kilimani Sub-County Police Commander Patricia Yegon and DCI Kilimani boss Hussein Mahat visited both the scene and the hospital.
Officers have since intensified security checks and reinforced all entry points to the State House compound.
Why did Kinyuka kill state house guard? The suspect was subdued and arrested at the scene by fellow officers. He reportedly told investigators that he had been ‘sent by Satan’ to carry out the attack.
Preliminary findings suggest that the suspect posed as a street dweller and concealed the weapon inside the sack.
He allegedly hid behind a flower bed before launching the assault as officers inspected a vehicle entering the premises.
The motive behind the fatal attack remains unclear, and detectives have launched a full investigation.
Was Ruto at state house during the attack? President William Ruto was reportedly inside state house at the time and was scheduled to depart later for an official engagement in Konza City.
Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage and witness accounts to trace the suspect’s movements and determine whether he acted alone.
Authorities have appealed for public patience as investigations continue while the suspect remains in custody and is being interrogated.
Gate D, where the attack occurred, is typically used by members of the public during scheduled visits and serves as a key security screening point.
Ruto’s guard collapses, dies while on duty Meanwhile, in April, Daniel Kangogo, an officer with the Presidential Security Unit (Prescot), collapsed and died moments before boarding an official four-wheel vehicle.

Kangogo was tasked with protecting Ruto and his immediate family. The incident occurred just as he was preparing to leave for an assignment, leaving his fellow officers in shock over his sudden passing.
Following the incident, health experts cautioned about the risks of silent cardiovascular conditions, particularly among individuals serving in high-pressure roles such as elite security units.
