KENYA: Rashid Idi: Sorrow as senior Standard Group journalist dies on Christmas

He died on Wednesday, December 25, while receiving medical care at a Nairobi hospital.

Which award did Rashid Idi win? According to a tribute by his former employer, Idi was a highly regarded professional in The Standard Group’s editorial team, known for his commitment, expertise, and innovative approach.

Having started with the company on January 17, 2013, he contributed for over ten years, playing a key role in enhancing visual journalism and maintaining high standards across various media outlets.

His achievements included winning the 2016 CNN MultiChoice African Journalist of the Year Award together with reporter Asha Mwilu.

Those who worked with him recall Idi as modest, reliable, and passionately dedicated to his profession, often highlighting his collaborative spirit.

The family indicated that plans are in progress to move his remains to Malaba on Friday, with the funeral set for Saturday, December 27.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. Rest in peace, brother.” Emmanuel Too:
