A former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Kabiru Turaki (SAN), has been chosen as the new National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
His emergence followed the party’s national convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, where delegates drawn from 17 states voted to fill key leadership positions.
Turaki, 54, is a native of Kebbi State and a graduate of the University of Jos, where he earned a law degree before proceeding to the Nigerian Law School in Lagos.
He has accumulated more than two decades of professional experience at the Bar.
A seasoned legal practitioner and politician, Turaki previously contested the governorship of Kebbi State in 2011.
His prominence in national politics grew when former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan appointed him Minister of Special Duties in February 2013, a role in which he also handled intergovernmental affairs.
His election as PDP National Chairman marks another significant step in his long-running public service career.
